The 2008 Alto Adige Cor R?migberg Tenutae Legeder is not at the heights seen in past vintages. This wine is Cabernet Sauvignon, with a splash of Petit Verdot that is dominated by green aromas of olive, caper and bay leaf. The mouthfeel is also thinner and shorter than expected.

The 2006 Cor Romigberg is impressive on this vintage. Dark red berries, plums, grilled herbs, licorice and cedar are some of the many notes that flow from this deeply expressive, totally convincing wine. The 2006 boasts gorgeous depth, power and finesse. Mocha, new leather and tar are some of the notes that flesh out on the finish, adding further layers of complexity. Cor Romigberg is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a dollop of Petit Verdot from a vineyard in Caldaro, on the southern side of Alto Adige. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. Alois Lageder now has two distinct ranges. The 2004 Cor Romigberg is another refined, sleek red from Lageder. Dark cherries, plums and spices come to life in the glass, supported by beautifully integrated French oak. The 2003 Cabernet Cor Romigberg is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a dollop of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This is one of the hotter microclimates in Alto Adige, so I suppose the wine’s rich, full-bodied style is not too surprising. The Cor Romigberg possesses gorgeous ripeness while retaining notable vibrancy. Dark red fruit, sweet herbs, licorice and herbs linger on the long, refined finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
