    Their estate wine has been changing through the year, and they seem happy with the current 2021 Finca Terrerazo, from old-vine Bobal (planted in 1945 and 1970 on adjacent plots at 800 meters above sea level) that aged in oak vats and concrete, looking for the identity of the place with no makeup. They did a soft vinification of the ripe grapes with full development of aromas and flavors that resulted in a wine with 14% alcohol and very good acidity and freshness, reflecting the cooler year. It has lots of elegance, following the path of the 2019, notes of flowers and red fruit, with a fine-boned palate and elegant tannins. Bobal can be elegant and fresh. 28,747 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

    It was interesting to taste the 2020 Finca Terrerazo next to the 2020. The parameters were similar, but the sensations are different. This comes though as riper and more powerful. It matured in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats for 18 months. It has notes of candied fruit, denoting more ripeness (or at least a different kind of ripeness), and a round, juicy palate with abundant tannins and a little earthy rusticity. 24,900 bottles were produced. It was bottled in June 2022.

    The 2019 Finca Terrerazo has similar parameters to the 2018 I tasted next to it: 14% alcohol, a slightly lower pH (3.542) and higher acidity (6.15 grams measured in tartaric acid). It also fermented in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and a soft extraction, and it had an élevage in those containers of 18 months. There is a step up in precision here, quite noticeable when tasting it next to the 2018. It's subtle, elegant and insinuating. It was a very good vintage for this wine. In 2018, the vineyards suffered from hail, and the wine shows more clarity here, it's more transparent and pure, it has symmetry and very fine tannins. This has to be the finest Finca Terrerazo so far. 29,360 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021.

    Finca Terrerazo is released a little later, so this time I tasted the 2018 Finca Terrerazo and the 2019. The 2018 is pure Bobal with 14% alcohol and a pH of 3.54 and 6.1 grams of acidity. It fermented in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats with a soft extraction and an élevage in those containers of 18 months. This is Mediterranean and open, with a hint of the Bobal rusticity. It's quite primary and juicy, and it has abundant, fine-grained tannins and a long, dry finish. 27,258 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2020.

    2017 was an unusual vintage that saw hail in Quincha Corral and some of the Garnacha, but it didn't touch the Bobal grapes used for the 2017 Finca Terrerazo. This time 70% of the volume matured in the 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats, where the wine fermented, and the rest aged in 225- and 500-liter barrels for 15 months. I think there is a big change in style in this 2017; it feels like the 2016 is from a different era. This, despite the warmer vintage, is a lot fresher, the wine has a lighter color and less ripeness. The nose is subtle and the oak much better integrated. They changed the vinification, separating the subplots by soil and leaning toward less extraction in the winery. The aging was completely different also, and that's noticeable especially in the texture and the integration of the wood. The wine is a lot more fluid, harmonious and ultimately a lot more pleasant to drink. It has to be the finest Finca Terrrerazo to date. 28,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2019.
