The 2009 Chardonnay / Arinto “Adega de Pegoes” is a 50/50 blend of the indicated grapes, aged for 4 months in a mixture of French and American oak. Well constructed, this seems rather full and solid in the mouth, perhaps a nod to the Chardonnay. It is quite tasty and fruity, with the oak fairly obvious but well integrated, providing a hint of a sweet nuance and a sexy note until it airs out. Then, the Arinto’s acidity cuts through it all. It will be best and at peak when freshest and it is quite delicious right now. Drink now-2013. Importer: Aidil Wines & Liquors, a division of Olde World Imports, Inc., Rahway, NJ; tel. (973) 642-0044.
