Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, it allies all the charm and suppleness typical of Les Chaumes with uncommon depth and concentration.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes has realized all the potential it displayed in barrel. Mingling aromas of wild berries and cassis with hints of rose petals and loamy soil in an inviting bouquet, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and enveloping, with a deep core of fruit, lively acids and velvety tannins. This is a cuvée that has really taken a step up this year.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes wafts from the glass with an inviting bouquet of peonies, sweet red berries, orange rind, raw cocoa and spices. Medium to full-bodied, pretty and expressive, the wine is lively and charming on the palate, with a delicate core of perfumed fruit and melting tannins, concluding with a long and precise finish.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes offers up pretty aromas of rose petals, cherries, dried flowers and cinnamon, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate, with firm, chewy structuring tannins that were rather prominent when I tasted the wine. Let's see how it shows from the bottle.

Offering up notes of baking chocolate, dark berries and flowers, the 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes is medium to full-bodied, ample and expansive, framed by firm, chewy tannins that will need some time in bottle to resolve. It's one of the more rustic wines in the cellar this year.
