Another success is the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets, a medium to full-bodied, layered and rather muscular wine, evocative of plums, raspberries and sweet spices. It's one of the firmer, more tannic wines in the range and will reward a bit of patience.

The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets opens in the glass with aromas of cassis and plums mingled with hints of licorice and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids and rich, powdery tannins, it's another promising cuvée from Lignier.

Aromas of plums, cassis, smoke and forest floor introduce the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets, a medium to full-bodied, lively and youthfully reserved wine that's concentrated and tightly wound, with chalky tannins and lively acids. Though it's more suave than the hail-impacted 2018, it's another cuvée that will require and reward a bit of patience.

Ripe and muscular, the 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets bursts with aromas of cherries, berries, loamy soil, licorice and incense. Medium to full-bodied, it's ripe and chewy, with rustic tannin that needs some time to round out. Lignier lost some 20% of his crop here to hail.

From a parcel acquired in 2010, Lignier's 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets reveals aromas of cassis, red cherries, licorice, rich soil and grilled squab. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and broad shouldered, with fine but firm structuring tannins and a juicy core of fruit. It's one of the more structured village wines from Lignier and should develop nicely in bottle.
