The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet opens in the glass with notes of buttered apples, white peach, blanched almonds and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and precise, with bright acids, good depth and tension at the core, and a long, mouthwatering finish. This is one of Boillot's more reserved 2017s, and it will reward at least a couple of years in the cellar.

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Village is blessed with a charming, surprisingly mineral-rich, smoky bouquet that repays aeration in the glass, so do not be afraid to decant this. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a fine line of acidity, impressive weight in the mouth, perhaps just requiring a tad more tension to come through on the finish. Still, this is an excellent village cru from Jean-Marc Boillot.

Boillot’s 2010 Puligny-Montrachet wraps around the palate with expressive yellow stone fruits, light floral honey, and apricots. This is an especially round, generous village-level Puligny, with lovely overall balance. Saline notes add freshness and vibrancy on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. This is an impressive set of wines from Jean-Marc Boillot. The 2010s are very clearly marked by their terroirs, a departure from vintages such as 2009 and 2011, where the wines are less vivid. The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Village has a very tight, recalcitrant bouquet that budges little with rigorous aeration, implying that it would benefit from another two or three years in bottle. The palate is slightly viscous and honeyed on the entry, suggesting late-picked fruit, although I am seeking a little more acidic “bite” toward the finish.
