The 2009 Susumaniello is quite intriguing. It shows off plump dark fruit, sweet herbs and spices, with an exotic personality that recalls Primitivo but with brighter aromatics and greater tannic structure. Floral notes add sweetness and lift on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. This is a promising set of wines from Li Veli. It will be interesting to see what the Falvo family comes up with now that they have fully exited Avignonesi and are free to focus on their Puglia property.
