The 2007 Mangiafoco is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 18 months in new French oak. Scents of blackberries, blueberry jam, herbs, French oak and minerals make an appearance in the glass, showing gorgeous inner perfume. The tannins and the new oak are a bit overwhelming, but texturally the wine is otherwise very beautiful, which makes me think all it needs is a few more years in bottle. A beautifully articulated, refreshing finish compensates for a lack of varietal character. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
