    The single-vineyard red 2019 Gorvia comes from the same vineyard as the white of the same name, a south-facing slate slope in the surroundings of the Monterrei Castle, mostly Mencía with some 5% Bastardo and Caí?o Redondo. It fermented in an open stainless steel vat with destemmed grapes, was kept there for nine months, then put in used 500- and 700-liter casks and assembled in stainless steel until bottling. It has a transparent color and also an ethereal nose and palate, with only 12.5% alcohol, purity of flavors and strong personality. 2,505 numbered bottles.

    The red 2016 Gorvia is mostly Mencía with some 5% Bastardo (Merenzao or Trousseau) and Caí?o Redondo (he's been using Caí?o Redondo, the spicier Caí?o, since 2005). With more rain, 2016 delivered round reds that seem expressive, floral and aromatic, more in line with 2013 than 2015. It's medium-bodied, has very fine tannins and a long and tasty finish. 3,591 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2020.

    The red 2015 Gorvia is produced with grapes cropped from the same one-hectare vineyard as the white of the same name, on a south-facing slate slope in the surroundings of the Monterrei Castle. It's a Mencía-based blend, with some 5% Bastardo and Caí?o Redondo. It fermented in an open stainless steel vat with 60% full clusters and a very long maceration, was kept there for six months and then put in used 300- and 500-liter casks. There is a combination of ripeness and freshness that is unusual. None of the wines here show any oak, and they are on the elegant, rather than powerful, side. Having said that, 2015 is very complete, and this has good stuffing, with the finesse I expect in the reds from Muradella. 3,000 bottles were filled in May 2017.

    The red 2013 Gorvia, from the same vineyard as the white of the same name on a south-facing slate slope in the surroundings of the Monterrei Castle, is mostly Mencía with some 5% Bastardo and Caí?o Redondo. Fermentation was carried out in an oak vat with some 20% full clusters and around 10% uncrushed grapes; the élevage was a bit convoluted, seven months in stainless steel, then transferred to a second-use 2,500-liter oak foudre and some 500-liter barrels, followed by another period in stainless steel before being bottled unfiltered. It has a superb, balanced, complex and elegant nose redolent of violets, sour cherries and stones. The palate is also terribly balanced, the tannins are fine, there is great tension and detail, filigree, pure and focused flavors and great length. This should age magnificently in bottle. 4,000 bottles.

    The 2012 Gorvia is a red single-vineyard wine from vines José Luis Mateo planted 25 years ago on granite sandy soils, It is 95% Mencía with the rest being Bastardo and Caí?o Redondo. The grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts in an open wood vat, 25% full clusters and 25% whole berries and aged in different-sized oak vessels and stainless steel. It has a very perfumed nose with notes of wild strawberries, flowers and an earthy sensation. The medium-bodied palate shows astonishing balance, lightness, restraint and power, with very fine tannins and penetrating flavors framing the ending. It finishes long with a spicy and earthy note towards the finish. Superb Atlantic red with a Burgundian accent. 4,000 bottles were produced.
