This is a delicious red wine with plump fruit flavors and exuberant fruit. I happily paired it with meat-filled angolotti and melted butter. The 2015 Barbera d'Alba Il Cerreto benefits from the warm vintage and offers dark layers of Morello cherry and blackberry as a result. The mouthfeel is rich and succulent, yet the wine also shows its elegance and is never too heavy or dense.

In theme with Barbera, the 2010 Barbera d’Alba Cerreto delivers darker tones of tar, asphalt and licorice. That bold masculine approach continues to the mouth, where the wine shows soft texture and deep layers. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. The 2008 Barbera d’Alba Cerreto is a striking wine. It is a little bit laid back in this vintage yet nevertheless presents layers of beautifully delineated fruit supported by vibrant, silky tannins. This harmonious, poised Barbera is showing beautifully today and should continue to drink well for a handful of years. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2016. The 2006 Barbera d’Alba Cerreto is simply superb, as masses of rich, concentrated dark fruit, spices, chocolate, leather and licorice emerge from the glass. The wine possesses stunning opulence, class and sheer finesse. This is easily the best vintage of the Cerreto ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016. I was blown away by these new releases from Roberto Voerzio. In particular, Voerzio has ratcheted up the quality of his entry-level wines in a meaningful way in 2006.
