The Vie di Romans 2018 Cuvée Friuli Isonzo Flors di Uis is an assembly of Malvasia, Riesling and Friulano that builds beautiful intensity on both the nose and the palate. Attempting to dissect the bouquet is not easy because there are so many elements to take under consideration, from orchard fruit and ripe apple to custard cream. The protagonist of the blend is Malvasia, and the wine's floral notes of honeysuckle and yellow rose are quite amplified as a result. Thanks to nine months of aging on the lees, the wine is broad, rich and generous to the end.

A blend of 57% Malvasia Istriana, 35% Riesling Renano and 8% Friulano, the Vie di Romans 2017 Cuvée Friuli Isonzo Flors di Uis shows a little hint of varietal purity that you can trace back to each of the three grapes used. Slightly lower in price compared to this estate's mono-variety wines, the 2016 Friuli Isonzo Flors di Uis is a blend of 45% Malvasia Istriana, 40% Riesling Renano and 15% Friulano. Production is 23,286 bottles. This unoaked white blend shows a razor-sharp delivery of primary fruit aromas, with zesty freshness and citrusy acidity on the close, followed by white jasmine and honey. The wine shows beautifully in the glass, with a radiant and brilliant appearance.

This bottle of 2015 Friuli Isonzo Flors di Uis spells out the full names of all the grapes used in this blend: Malvasia Istriana, Tocai Friulano and Riesling Renano, but really what you pick up here is the Riesling. It's hard to judge the quality of the other varieties as a result. At any rate, this wine is very fleshed out and well aged. It's really incredible what that one extra year of bottle aging has accomplished. It's a very nice vintage that is linear and direct, with floral and citrus scents along with that chemical note that only comes with age. Production is 23,273 bottles.
