Flowers and berries are found in the aromatics of the 2001 Chambolle-Musigny. Light to medium-bodied, this wine expands on the attack, revealing an excellent, satin-textured, plum and blackberry-flavored core. Its tight, compressed finish will have to flesh out for it to ultimately merit a score in the upper part of the attributed range. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
The Lecheneaut brothers, Philippe and Vincent, have a distinct preference for the 2000s over the 2001s. According to them, “the acidity levels are higher in 2001 and the tannins had trouble ripening whereas in 2000 we had superb ripeness.”
