The 1997 Beaune Vignes Franches is medium to dark ruby-colored, and has a lovely nose filled with deeply ripe red and black fruits. This is a huge, rich, fat, deep wine with plum syrup-covered, cookie dough flavors, and hints of candied orange rinds. Medium to full-bodied, silky-textured, and with evidence of sur-maturite, it is a wine that provides enormous hedonistic pleasure. Anticipated maturity: now-2004.
