The 2011 Taurasi is a dark and well-extracted wine that is loaded tight with dark fruit, dried blackberry, exotic spice, tar, licorice and grilled herb. Aglianico is known for its astringent tannins, but that firmness has been greatly softened and managed thanks in part to 12 months of aging in French barrique. Lingering notes of soft spice and dark fruit give the wine power and momentum. This Taurasi should evolve over the course of the next five years.
