The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières from Olivier Leflaive has an introspective bouquet: touches of lemon curd and linden, more spiciness coming through here. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry although it does not quite deliver the complexity and tension that I was anticipating. It is still well balanced and harmonious, yet it is holding something back on the conservative finish.

The wood is still very present in this young wine, giving acidity and creamy, toasty character. The wine, as it develops, will become ripe, full of yellow fruits and honey while always keeping that great acidity. Since it needs to age, drink from 2018.
