The 2016 Criots-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru is beautiful, bursting from the glass with aromas of orange blossom, green apples, rock salt and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, extremely expansive and satiny textured, with wonderful purity, succulent acids and a long, precise finish. This is a more tensile, reserved rendition of Criot's than the 2015 that preceded it, and to my palate, it's even finer. As usual, the wine was raised in a tiny stainless steel tank.
