Prunotto's 1993 Barolo Bussia is one of the more outstanding wines from this above average to good Piedmontese vintage. Revealing a dark ruby color with garnet at the edge, it offers up a sweet, cherry, spice-driven, gamey, and tobacco-scented nose, followed by a fleshy, medium to full-bodied wine with low acidity, and a smoky, long, heady finish. It should drink well for 5-7 years. This estate, acquired by the Antinori family of Tuscany, has had the benefit of Renzo Cotarella as its winemaker since 1991.
