To no one's surprise, Muller-Catoir has again produced some stunning wines. I was knocked-out by the 1991 Mussbacher Eselshaut Rieslaner Spatlese Trocken. A potentially staggering wine, it exhibits a huge nose of what Alsatians call petrol (a vague gasoline-like smell), minerals, and peaches/apricots. The wine possesses enormous stature, fabulous richness (the essence of Rieslaner), and a dry, multi-dimensional, long, full-bodied finish. It has to be tasted to be believed! Drink it over the next 5-6 years. A Terry Theise Selection, imported by Milton S. Kronheim, Co., Washington, DC.
