The 2008 G del R is 100% Mencia from Bierzo sourced from a biodynamically farmed parcel of vines over 80 years of age. It was fermented with natural yeasts, went through malolactic in French and American oak, followed by an additional year of aging in French oak. Dense purple in color, it displays an already complex perfume of toasty oak, Asian spices, cherry blossom, incense, and black raspberry. Layered and plush on the palate with excellent volume, this lengthy effort will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age but can be approached now.
