The 2010 Monferrato Mompertone (Barbera, Syrah) is endowed with serious minerality and intensity. Sweet red berries, flowers, spices and anise are some of the many nuances that take shape in the glass. Most previous versions have been much more open upon release, but not the 2010. Readers who want to get a sense of the personality of the vintage will glean many insights from tasting this focused, vibrant red. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
