The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Les Pruliers is one of the more immediate of the 1er Crus at Taupenot-Merme. A burst of dark red fruit flows through to the juicy, expressive finish. The firm tannins need time to soften, but I don’t see the Pruliers ever becoming as refined as the very best wines in this lineup. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2025. Romain Taupenot lost between 25-40% of his 2010 production to the poor weather, although some of his lower lying parcels were down as much as 80%. Fortunately the Grand Crus were down only 15% on average. The harvest began on September 23. Taupenot reported that the fruit required some sorting in the winery.
