The 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes has a more linear, very pure red cherry, crushed strawberry and rose petal-tinged bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass but never gets carried away. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin, a little spicier in the mouth compared to the Clos de la Barre, while maintaining a sense of elegance. The aftertaste is long and continues that spicy, white pepper theme for 20-30 seconds.
