The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block is a 160-case cuvée that picks up the intensity level of fruit extract. It has a nice, sweet, earthy undertone, tobacco leaf, licorice, loads of blackcurrants and spicy oak. The wine is full-bodied, rich, hedonistic and lush. Drink it over the next 15 or so years.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block is a glorious dense, ruby/purple color, with unbelievable purity and richness, super-sweet crème de cassis fruit, graphite and blackberries, and a stunningly full-bodied, opulent palate, a flawless integration of tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood. This full-throttle, stunning Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 20-25 years, although it’s accessible at present.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block is a dark, Gothic-like, supple-textured, rich, stunning wine boasting abundant notes of barbecue spice, forest floor, black and blue fruits and a hint of truffles. Full-bodied, dense and rich, it is another stellar effort from Mark Carter, whose terrific line-up of 2012s stands out even in this great vintage. Drink the 2012 Coliseum Block over the next 15-20 years.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block is a juicy, black fruit-scented and flavored wine with supple tannin, a velvety texture and lots of seductive early appeal. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. For a number of years, this has been one of most impressive portfolios in Napa Valley, and as one might expect, the 2010s are outrageous offerings. Tel.
