Picked relatively early (it's labeled at 13% alcohol) and aged in one-third barrels, two-thirds concrete eggs, the 2020 Condrieu Les Grands Amandiers (Domaine) features slightly toasty aromas, backed by notes of lime and white peach. It's a Condrieu that wants to be white Burgundy—medium-bodied, fine and elegant, but without Viognier's expansiveness or florals.

The succulent 2018 Condrieu Les Grands Amandiers (Domaine) stands out among the Jaboulet offerings for being the ripest, fullest and most opulent of the white wines produced at this address. Crushed stone and pencil shavings accent ripe pineapple and apricot fruit, picking up notes of white pepper and hibiscus along the way. It's medium to full-bodied, round and lush in the mouth, with hints of bitterness and salinity that give grip to the finish.

Looking at the 2014 whites, this was an average vintage for the reds, but a terrific vintage for the whites. I loved the 2014 Condrieu Domaine des Grands Amandiers and this fresh, elegant Condrieu offers a classic floral character in addition to lots of citrus, tangerine and peach aromatics, medium to full-bodied richness and beautiful length. Give bottle six months and enjoy over the following 3-4 years.

Lastly, and the best vintage of this cuvee to date, the 2013 Condrieu Domaine des Grands Amandiers Blanc has beautiful clarity and precision in its green citrus, white peach, mint and sappy flower-like aromas and flavors. It’s a medium to full-bodied, clean, crisp and strikingly elegant Condrieu to drink over the coming 2-3 years.

The 2012 Condrieu Domaine des Grands Amandiers Blanc, which comes from a steep hillside and a warmer terroir, is still drinking beautifully (reviewed last year). It has lots of citrus blossom, tangerine, mint and almond aromas and flavors, medium to full-bodied richness and juicy acidity. Drink it over the coming year or two.
