Rarely flashy in its youth, Dry River's 2019 Chardonnay continues that tradition (the 2018 was a bit of an anomaly in that regard). Hints of honey and wood spice appear on the nose, accenting subdued notions of pear, melon and citrus, while the medium to full-bodied palate is plump and round, fleshy and giving. That generosity on the mid-palate is complemented by a tighter, more linear feel on the finish, supported by bright acidity, tart citrus notes and ample length.

The 2018 Chardonnay is more approachable young than many vintages of this wine, reflecting a warm summer. Hints of toasted almond and nougat accent peach and pineapple notes on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is silky and fine but more generous than typical, with an appealing round plumpness that only tightens up a bit on the lingering, silky-textured finish.

From a cooler year, the 2017 Chardonnay is a bit leaner and more lemony than the 2016. There's a hint of struck match up front, then toasty notes framing the citrusy flavors. It's medium-bodied, with a silky texture and a long finish, and should drink well for another 5-6 years.

The 2009 Chardonnay has ripe apple and apricot aromas with nuances of toast, cashews, orange blossom and a whiff of honey comb. Very crisp on the medium bodied palate, there’s plenty of taut fruit and some silkiness to the texture with a long minerally finish. Approachable now, it should drink best 2012 to 2018.
