Traces of smoke mark the nose of the 2018 Field Of Fire Chardonnay, nicely accenting notes of white peach, mixed citrus and crushed stone. It's medium to full-bodied, with a more pronounced texture than the Lion's Tooth bottling but also a more streamlined shape on the palate and a lengthy finish that unites all of these components in delicious harmony. Expect it to drink well for at least 6-7 years, perhaps longer.

Notes of honey, toasted grain and pink grapefruit emerge on the nose of the 2016 Field Of Fire Chardonnay. It's medium to full-bodied and plump in the mouth but with vibrant citrus notes (lime, grapefruit) that grow in intensity on the lingering finish.

Youthfully closed, the 2012 Field Of Fire Chardonnay has lovely nectarine, mandarin peel and lemon curd notes with touches of baker’s yeast and coriander seed. Very tight and minerally, it has a delicate palate, silky texture and long and lively finish. It really needs another year or two in bottle. Only 95 cases were produced.

The 2011 Field of Fire Chardonnay is intensely scented of apricots, mangoes and guava with suggestions of buttered toast and baking bread. This medium-bodied wine packs the flavor into a relatively elegant package with tons of savory and tropical fruit flavors lifted by crisp acidity and a finish with great persistence.
