The 2021 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard has a deep ruby color and is loaded with very pretty scents of Morello cherries, orange peel, licorice, mint, cardamom and amaro. The medium-bodied palate is gently chalky and seamlessly energetic, with highly concentrated, nuanced fruit and a very long, spicy finish.

The 2019 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard, medium ruby-purple in color, opens with pure aniseed and a singular, smoky, graphite-like nuance, with loads of floral-laced black fruits and more accents emerging with time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh, with delicate, perfumed fruit character and an ethereal finish. It's lovely straight from bottle but should age well over the next decade. 250 cases were made.

Opaque purple-black in color, the 2018 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard opens with notions of tar, aniseed, toasted coconut and baked black fruits with a note of graphite. The palate is full-bodied and firm, with refreshing pops of acidity and dense, broody fruit character, and it finishes long. This will benefit from more time in bottle.

The Zampatti vineyard, located in Santa Rosa, was planted in 1915 to Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, Palomina and Golden Chasselas. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2017 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard opens with candied peach, warm cinnamon and cracked black pepper with licorice hints over a core of crushed black cherries and berries, blueberries, warm red cherries and even cranberry sauce—this has lovely tricolored fruit and exotic spice layers. Medium to full-bodied, it's wonderfully concentrated and spicy in the mouth with loads of flavor layers, fine, grainy tannins and mind-bending juicy acidity, finishing very long and very layered. Wow! 150 cases were made.

From a site defined by ancient ocean bed soils and a Russian River Valley-like climate, the 2016 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, plums and pencil lead. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with bright acids, a vibrant core of fruit and youthfully chalky tannins. It's one of the highest-acid wines in the lineup, and I'd expect it to age well.
