This is one of Calabria's flagship wines. The 2013 Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva Duca Sanfelice opens to lean concentration and a light garnet color. In appearance, the Gaglioppo grape reveals similarities that recall Pinot Nero. But the bouquet tells a whole different story. There are wild berry nuances, but the aromas are driven by more rustic tones of scorched earth, black olive and grilled herb. It shows tons of personality and authenticity, and is only aged in stainless steel. Some 120,000 bottles are made of this wine.
