Alvear’s light greenish-hued 2003 Fino en Rama is a fresh, lively, hazelnut-scented cuvee with good underlying acidity as well as wonderful ripeness and zing. It will drink beautifully over the next 6-12 months with rich soups or sushi. Importer Jorge Ordonez has begun to offer single vintage finos, aged two years in traditional American oak botas (500 liters), so consumers have an opportunity to understand how zesty a fino can be.
