In this very good vintage, Boyd-Cantenac has turned in one of its better efforts. The 1983 is dark ruby in color, with a full-blown, spicy, ripe plummy aroma, rich, full-bodied, concentrated flavors, and plenty of tannin. This big, robust Margaux has begun to shed some of its tannins, but still needs 5 years to reach maturity. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 11/89.
