From bottle, the 2000 Cote Rotie Terres Sombres offers aromas of espresso roast intermixed with underbrush, cedar, Asian spices, raspberries, black cherries, and currant fruit. Although not terribly rich or long, it is a medium-bodied, charming Cote Rotie that will be enjoyable to drink over the next 5-7 years.
Cuilleron continues to produce brilliant wines, particularly his dry whites, although his reds get better with each vintage.
