The 2008 Falerno del Massico Bianco (Falanghina) is a taut, focused wine that only gradually reveals its pedigree. Smoke, ash and minerals add complexity to a generous core of honeyed apricots. There is a surprising level of depth and richness here, but the wine needs more time in bottle in order to express the full breadth of its potential. This is a highly promising white from Villa Matilde. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.
