The 2010 Barolo delivers a steady performance with a long line of aromas that includes wild berry, dried cherry, wet earth, button mushroom, pressed rose and chestnut honey. There is a good level of complexity here, although the wine opts for a simplistic approach overall. The aromas are exhibited with monotone intensity and show slow, easy transitions. Fresh acidity adds a good sense of lift on the close.

Fleshy red berry, rose, blue flower, mint and baking spice aromas take center stage. The racy palate is still somewhat closed but offers Morello cherry layered with white pepper, alpine herbs and spice alongside assertive tannins and nervous acidity. Young and tightly wound, this should evolve into a classic. Best after 2020.
