Chalone's 1990 Chardonnay Estate is one of their finest efforts in years. Still tightly knit, but explosively rich and powerful, this wine reluctantly exudes aromas of butter, oak, and spices. In the mouth, there is superb depth and richness, fine acidity, and an overall sense of tightness and extreme youthfulness. I would not be surprised to see it reach full maturity in 2-3 years and last for at least a decade.
