The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Select is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, unlike the regular bottling, which contains small proportions of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Darker in hue, it's richer and oakier on the nose, with assertive notes of pencil shavings, cassis and loamy earth. And while it's labeled the same 14.4% alcohol as the regular bottling, it comes across as fuller-bodied, with a more layered texture on the palate and a longer, plusher finish. It's an excellent wine and a reasonable value in the context of Napa Cabernet.
