Although unevolved, the 1990 Pinot Blanc-Reserve (available only to stockholders) possesses gorgeously rich fruit, tremendous depth, a mineral/orange-like fruitiness, and stunning length. Based on previous vintages, it should drink well for a decade or more.

As a vertical tasting last spring proved, Chalone's Pinot Blanc has been consistently excellent. Both the 1990 and 1991 regular bottlings are exceptional. With stony, crisp, apple/orange-like noses, deep, elegant, well-balanced, tightly focused flavors, good concentration, and plenty of length, both wines should drink well for the next 6-7 years.
