The 1995 Vega Sindoa Chardonnay Cuvee Allier is more complex than the 1995 Chardonnay Barrel Fermented, with a creamier texture and a smoky, white Burgundy-styled nose. The wine displays excellent richness, a honeyed, ripe apple/tangerine-like nose, tart acidity, medium body, fine ripeness, and an attractive, easy-going, intensely Chardonnay-like personality. It should drink well for a year. If Spain can produce large quantities of Chardonnay of this quality/price rapport, California, France, and Australia should be wary. Bodegas Nekeas is one of the most progressive, modern wineries in northern Navarra. They are doing considerable experimentation in one of the cooler micro-climates of this area.
