The 2005 Wilfreda is composed of 50% Shiraz, 27% Mourvedre, and 23% Grenache. It was aged for 18 months in a mix of used oak. Purple-colored, it has an expressive nose of cedar, smoke, scorched earth, black raspberry, black cherry, and blueberry. This leads to a structured, firm wine which is a bit lean on the mid-palate. The flavors are good and the wine is well-balanced. It should be consumed over the next 4-6 years. The owner/winemaker of Gibson Wines is Rob Gibson who left Penfolds to start his own winery.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (805) 278-9095
