The 2010 Crianza feels classical with a slightly reductive character, so it would benefit from energetic decanting in advance. Once it opens up, it shows aromas of ripe red and black fruit, and well-integrated oak in the shape of spices and hints of smoke. The palate is medium-bodied, and while the tannins are fine and supple, the mid-palate feels a bit hollow. Drink now-2017.
Pago de los Capellanes produces one million bottles. In the context of the region, and compared with their older vintages, I found some irregular wines and was a bit disappointed with the 2010s, which I expected would have more stuffing.
