Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2000 Chateau Siran is evolving nicely in bottle - developing quite a precocious bouquet with mulberry, blackberry and cassis scents, touches of violet in the background, quite youthful still after 15 years. The palate is medium-bodied with an appreciable grip in the mouth, fine tannins here with satisfying weight; blackberry and cassis fan out gently towards the rounded finish. Having now encountered this twice in just a few weeks, it is safe to say that this millennial is just beginning to hit a sweet spot. Who knows...it may even improve further. Tasted February 2016.

This is not as big or as concentrated as many 2000s. But it has elegance and style, along with fine, ripe perfumed fruit and attractive, balancing acidity. Give this wine at least 8 years before drinking. ——R.V.(6/1/2003)—— 89
