One of Beringer's newest projects is to expand the top of their portfolio, offering limited quantities (approximately 200 case lots) of single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons from the different terroirs. A Cabernet Sauvignon Terre Rouge was produced in 1994, 1995, and 1996. These are among the more backward, austere, and angular of the single-vineyard wines. I found the 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Terre Rouge to be more fruit than structure-driven. It exhibits copious quantities of red and black fruit in its nose, low acidity, obvious glycerin, a thick, chewy texture, and a spicy, medium to full-bodied finish. Although the 1996 will not be as backward as the 1994, neither will it be as fleshy as the 1995.Tel. (707) 963-7115; Fax (707) 963-1735
