This wine is too ripe to my taste with lots of jammy sensations and soft fruit. The Cantina Tudernum 2019 Montefalco Rosso Fidenzio is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 15% Sagrantino. The wine is powerful and sticky with tobacco and tarry black fruit. It is heavy, inky in appearance and almost openly sweet. It ages in oak for 12 months, and 15,000 bottles were produced.

The Cantina Tudernum 2017 Montefalco Rosso Fidenzio shows spicy red fruit, dried cherry, dried redcurrant and some dried rose as well, polishing off with earthy tones and savory spice. The wine is bit heavy and brooding with all the sweet cherry confit you get in this hot vintage. Production stands at 12,000 bottles.

The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Fidenzio is a plump, sun-drenched red wine with aromas of sweet fruit, dried plum and cherry liqueur. The wine displays a good sense of balance despite a hefty 15.5% alcohol content. Thanks to 18 months of oak aging, there is soft spice and toast leading up to drying tannin. This is a production of 50,000 bottles, with fruit sourced from seven hectares of vines.

A wine I have already reviewed, the 16%-alcohol 2014 Montefalco Sagrantino Fidenzio from Cantina Tudernum shows an easy and open-knit personality, seemingly now oxidized, along with caramel, dried prune or fig on the bouquet. The fruit has started to fade with leather and earthy notes in this now seven-year-old release of some 50,000 bottles. I've closed the drinking window as a result.
