The 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape le Plateau de Mont Redon (approximately 50-50 Grenache and Syrah) was presented as a representative blend; the final assemblage will be approximately half barrel-aged and half tank-matured. The barreled portion spends 18-20 months in wood, then the wines are blended and aged another 18 months (approximately) in tank to allow the two portions to marry and allow for further aging prior to bottling and release. Vanilla and cedar notes accent ripe cherries and blackberries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate remains fresh and zesty, the tannins supple and the finish long.

Yet to be bottled, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape le Plateau de Mont Redon includes some minty-herbal nuances on the nose, alongside hints of cedar and vanilla, plus a base of concentrated black cherries and plums. It's a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah from the galets roulés and clay soils of the estate, largely aged in new oak barriques for 18 months, yet it doesn't seem overly oaky. It is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with supple tannins and a long, plush, velvety finish. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

Tasted as tank sample, although it may be bottled by now, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape le Plateau de Mont Redon offers up scents of mocha, smoky cedar and dark berries. A blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, aged in tank and new barrels, it's full-bodied, rich and velvety, with surprisingly firm tannins for the vintage.

The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape le Plateau—the only one of these four vintages to be bottled—is velvety and forward, with notes of ripe cherries, cedar, vanilla and mocha. It's full-bodied, but not overbearingly tannic, making it approachable already. Only the second vintage to be produced, it's a 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah that matured in a mix of tanks and new barrels.
