While the 2018 Condrieu Clos Boucher isn't the most dramatically perfumed Condrieu, it's dramatic and opulent, loaded with honeyed apricot, peach and pineapple fruit. Full-bodied and rich, it nonetheless finishes with admirable energy, gingery spice and a lingering, crushed-stone note. Drink it over the next few years. Grilled pineapple and apricot aromas lead the way in the 2017 Condrieu Clos Boucher. It comes across as tighter and more reined in than in the past, showing less flamboyant ripeness. It's still a medium to full-bodied wine, but it's less floral and spicy than (for example) the 2016 yet with fine balance and mouthwatering length.

Fermented and aged entirely in new oak, the 2016 Condrieu Clos Boucher nevertheless exudes the essence of Viognier with its spicy-floral aromas and flavors. Ginger, white pepper and nasturtium blossom all feature in this medium to full-bodied wine, plus layers of ripe apricots and candied pineapple emerging in support. Drink this over the next 5 years.
