Made with almost 60% whole clusters, the wine spent 17 months in French oak, 9% new. Just under 11,000 bottles produced.

Medium to full-bodied, the wine is nimble but offers layers of complexity with flavors of dusty dark cherry, black raspberry chutney and black pepper, showing a balanced structure with a dustiness at its heart. The wine delivers pleasure with lingering spice tones through the food-friendly finish, ending with lively tension and a seductive floral tone.

Classic Syrah, the 2016 Walla Walla Syrah opens with a tight core of blackberry, redcurrant, dusty plum and crème de cassis aromas, with complex and subtle nuances of smoked meat, dusty black peppercorn and violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is structured and precise, with a rocky tension on the mid-palate. The wine is clean and expressive, finishing long and contemplative with hints of violets and leather on the aftertaste. Only 1,070 cases made.

The straight 2014 Syrah from Columbia Valley is a beautiful, layered and elegant Syrah that a ton of floral character as well as ripe red and black fruits, crushed rocks and a hint of black olive. Reminding me a top Cote Rotie, this elegant, finesse driven 2014 offers medium to full-bodied richness, fine tannin and a great finish. It will have 10-15 years of longevity.
