The 1993 Craighead Vineyard (from 123-year old vines) displays a medium to dark ruby color, and a spicy, nicely extracted nose of cedar, cherry and strawberry fruit, as well as spice and earth. The wine is medium-bodied, ripe, and low in acidity, with a heady, chunky finish. Although not complex, this well-made wine is ideal for drinking over the next 3-4 years. Swan's style of Zinfandel appears to change with each new vintage. The 1993s are lighter than some of the blockbuster examples produced in the past.
