All of the 1996 offerings reviewed in this segment appear to be made in a cookie-cutter fashion. The red wines are essentially cut from the same mold as the whites - medium-bodied, moderately concentrated, with obvious new oak. The soft, picnic-styled 1996 Syrah Reserve displays a dark ruby color, attractive, peppery, cassis aromas, and a light to medium-bodied personality. It is ideal for drinking over the next several years. None of these offerings will provide exciting drinking, but they are all well-made and ideal for present consumption.Tel.
