Aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers and buttered toast introduce Drouhin's 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Village, a medium to full-bodied, ample and charming wine with a fleshy core of fruit and succulent balancing acids. This will drink well young.

Exhibiting aromas of pear, orange oil, nutmeg and white flowers, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, with a tangier, more delicate profile than this year's rich, enveloping Puligny.

Already bottled, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village displays attractive notes of honeyed pear, tangerine and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with an elegantly textural attack, a pure core of fruit and a nicely defined, stony finish. This is a charmingly open but nicely succulent Chassagne that should drink well for a decade.

The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a simple but pretty bouquet with yellow fruit and jasmine aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, straightforward green apple and walnut notes with a no frills but pleasurable finish. Not bad, although my preference would be for either the Meursault of the Puligny village crus this year.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Village perhaps does not quite have the sophistication of the Puligny-Montrachet this year, though with time there are attractive conference pear and star anise scents (Véronique Drouhin sitting opposite me picked up fennel). The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, with hints of lemongrass tincturing the citrus fruit with that fennel/anise note just guiding the melon and grapefruit finish. This should drink well over the next 4-6 years.
