This is only the second wine from this new producer, who intelligently avails himself of the wise winemaking counsels of Giacomo Tachis. The blackish garnet 1998 Brunello di Montalcino features an internationally styled nose of vanilla, caramel, and coconut which tends to overshadow the plum and red currant fruit. Round in flavor and with a nice density, texture, and full finish, the wine’s balance is slightly upset by prominent tar and charred wood on the close. Drink: 2005-2010, but some doubts about the eventual balance of fruit and oak seem justified.Importer unknown.
