The 2012 Essenzia (375 milliliters) is a late harvest blend of Chardonnay, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Kerner. This is a beautifully delicate dessert wine that opens to a generous bouquet that is redolent of honey and more honey. Yes, there are subtle notes of stone fruit and yellow rose in between. But honey is the major player by far. The bouquet is centered and integrated. This would make a perfect companion to semi-sweet desserts or dried biscuits.

The 2005 Essenzia is a late-harvest dessert wine made from a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling Renano, Gewurztraminer and Kerner. It is delicate and perfumed, with floral notes that waft from the glass followed by sweet white peaches, jasmine and passion fruit that flow onto the palate with outstanding length. This is another gorgeous, beautifully poised wine from Pojer e Sandri. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2012. Pojer e Sandri, based in Trentino, has been one my favorite wineries since my student days in Boston, when I always found the wines to deliver superb quality, especially given my limited budget back then.
